Call for plays (7/31 Deadline)

EAT’s New Works Series Fall 2013: Submit Yourself!

Deadline: July 31st!

Do you have an idea for a one-person show that you’ve been sitting on? A two-person tour de force that promises to be fantastic? Perhaps a musical – a tuneful, bouncy one-act or a soulful, jazzy full-length? How about an experimental performance piece that tells a story with movement, light, sound?

Emerging Artists Theatre (EAT) is thrilled to announce our 10th Annual New Work Series (NWS) Call for Submissions of Original New Works Festival Dates: October 4th – 27th at the TADA! Theatre, NYC

With the NWS, EAT makes it simple and safe for artists to take risks and explore, supplying all the basic production elements needed to support a new work in development – a stage, a small crew, box office and lobby staff, minimal sets and lights. Plus it’s free to submit, and there’s no cost to participate if accepted, so apply today!

We’re seeking some very specific kinds of works. Take a look, see if you’re a match: Currently Seeking:
 · Original solo shows written and performed by men
 · Original solo shows written and performed by women
 · Original short and full-length musicals
 · Original two-person shows
 · Non-traditional theatrical forms – movement pieces, puppetry, something unexpected.

No more excuses. Now is your chance to share your work in progress on stage in front of an audience. For full details and to apply, click here: http://www.emergingartiststheatre.org/submissions.php

Paul Adams,
Artistic Director

A note from DC Copeland: "I highly recommend submitting. I did and my award-winning dancical "Jitterbug!" was given a reading last March at the Tada! Theater. Directed by Petronia Paley, it was one of the best professional experiences in my life. Paul Adams is a great guy and made sure the Fest ran smoothly, a difficult if not nearly impossible task in itself. Of course, given this opportunity, it's important that you do all you can to make it work. Thankfully I had Petronia Paley in my corner. She's truly amazing and I couldn't have done it without her."

Alan Aymie's A CHILD LEFT BEHIND benefit performances 7/15 & 16 (NY)

My son likes numbers... In Kindergarten, he was adding and subtracting in the millions place. At age five, he could do things with numbers, most of the 5th grade children I taught could never think about doing.

This play is about all those children, the reasons why some get left behind and why test scores never tell the whole story. Two years ago, with the support of The INKubator play series, GENERATION RESCUE and good friends (thank you, Les Williams and Rich Embardo!) this play saw its initial performance in LA. Originally directed by Paul Stein at the Skylight Theater, it played at three theaters for over a year and now I am so happy to be performing it in New York (and points north!) Co-produced by Kate Palmer and Jaz Dorsey here in New York, the play is serving as a fundraiser for G.R.A.S.P. (Global and Regional Asperger's Partnership) on July 15th (BSP Theater/Kingston, NY) and 16th (New Theater at 45th Street). For more information on the show and tickets, please click here.

George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion will mark the premiere of Stamp Brothers Productions. The inaugural play will be showing in the 133rd Street Art Center at 308 West 133rd Street. Show dates are July 12th-14th at 8pm, including a 2pm matinee on the 13th. Stamp Brothers Productions is a Non-Profit organization using a "Pay-What-You-Can" Ticket program. This means that the production is entirely free; just pay what you feel you can afford to see the show. Tickets are received at the door the night of the show. Plus there will be FREE WINE.

Pygmalion was adapted into a very famous musical, My Fair Lady, but Lerner and Loewe changed the ending because of how upsetting Shaw's original ending was to audiences. In a brand new vision, done in the round, director, Joey Stamp, reinstates the original ending and combines music, under the direction of Michael Stamp, with original dance by Sean Roschman, into an unforgettable theatrical experience. For three days only come and experience a creative reimagining of this classic play.

Featuring the acting talents of Lauren Young as Eliza, Kristina King as Mrs. Doolittle, Justy Kosek as Henry Higgins, Nick Golden as Freddy, Elizabeth Colwell as Clara, Jessica Goldstein as Mrs. E Hill, Heather Peterson as Mrs. Higgins, Nastsha Strang as Mrs. Pearce, and Finn Killgore as Colonel Pickering with a talented ensemble featuring: Jarrel Lynch, Andrea Miller, Haley Rice, Mariana Coelho, Caitrin Kelly, Jessi St. George and stage managed by Annmargaret Centeno.
