2012 DC Black Theatre Festival

Join us for the return of DC Black Theatre Festival; a week-long festival (Saturday, June 23- Sunday, July 1, 2012) celebrating extraordinary stories told by people of African descent and an exciting menu of more than 150 provocative and ground breaking theatrical performances, by local and national artists, writers, producers, and the theatre companies. DC Black Theatre Festival is the first festival of its kind to recognize the importance of both urban and traditional theatre.

Added to this magnificent line-up will be a week-long celebration of:
·Giants in Black Theatre, the "Intimate Conversations" series is history told through the eyes of those who were there.

·Interactive Workshops that include a round table discussion about the state and future of black theater in America, a directing workshop, children's workshop, acting workshop, and a how to workshop on theater producing.

·A One-Act Battle; a nightly one-act play competition hosted by Bus Boys and Poets.

·Celebrity Line up: Robert Townsend, Leon (The Five Heartbeats), Rain Pryor (Daughter of Richard Pryor), Taimak (The Last Dragon), Petri Hawkins-Byrd (Judge Judy), Jessica Holter (HBO's Punany Poets), D'Atra Hicks (Tyler Perry's Madea's Family Reunion), Doug E. Doug (Cosby Show), and Lamman Rucker (Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns).

The DC Black Theatre Festival will also offer an array of Visual Presentations, Monologue Competition and after each performance, don't miss the nightly After Party featuring live music and entertainment, and a lively discussion with audience members and performers.

Tickets are only: $15.00 for all shows.

Location: The 2012 DC Black Theatre Festival will be held at 10 theaters in and around DC metropolitan area.
